Questions from parents

Questions

What is agreed, what is planned and what still needs confirming.

What ages is EFA for?

Our initial focus is ages 7–14, within foundation and youth development. The wider pathway includes future pre-foundation and professional development programmes. Final age groups will be confirmed before enrolment.

Does my child need to speak English?

No. English will be the main coaching language, supported by demonstrations, repetition and practical activities. Questions in Spanish are welcome. Available language-support arrangements will be explained before a programme is agreed.

Is this football coaching or an English course?

The core offer is structured football development, with English used naturally through coaching, teamwork and the game. We do not promise a particular language qualification or level of fluency.

Does my child need previous football experience?

Players with different starting points can be considered. Assessment helps us identify whether we can offer suitable support. A beginner may benefit from individual preparation before entering an available group.

How does the four-week assessment work?

For the club programme, this is a paid period to get to know the player, observe their strengths and needs, and identify a suitable route. The number of sessions, assessment fee and detailed arrangements will be confirmed before booking.

Does assessment guarantee admission?

No. An ongoing place depends on a suitable programme, group and available capacity. Families will receive an explanation of the outcome and proposed next steps.

What if my child is not ready for group training?

Where appropriate, an individual preparation programme will provide clear goals and review points. Its duration depends on the player’s needs and progress. Group introduction is supported when the player is ready and a suitable place is available.

Who delivers individual preparation?

Individual preparation is delivered by an EFA coach. Session numbers and timing will be agreed as part of the programme details.

Will there be trials at the start of the year?

Start-of-year trials are planned. Dates and how these connect with the four-week assessment will be explained before bookings open.

Will my child have to leave their current club?

The launch format is not yet decided. We will confirm whether EFA offers supplementary coaching, its own teams or a combination before families commit.

How will I know whether my child is progressing?

Players will have clear development priorities and receive feedback. Planned reviews will discuss progress and next steps, including the player’s views. Frequency and contact arrangements remain to be confirmed.

Who will coach and care for my child?

Coaching and welfare responsibilities will be confirmed before enrolment, alongside the relevant policies and reporting routes.

How do I raise a concern?

Named safeguarding contacts, reporting instructions and an alternative escalation route will be published before programmes begin.

Where are sessions, when do they run and what do they cost?

Our programme schedule is being finalised. Use the enquiry form for the latest information about programmes and availability.

Can my child attend an EFA summer camp in another country?

Camps are part of our longer-term ambition. Dates, eligibility and arrangements will be confirmed before bookings open.

Are international tournaments part of the plan?

Yes. We aim to develop EFA-hosted seasonal tournaments with invited academy opposition. No events, venues or opponents are confirmed yet.

How will we know what an international event actually offers?

Before families commit, the event information will explain the football programme, confirmed participants and providers, supervision, costs and inclusions. Club names will be used accurately, so families understand the nature of any involvement. Arrangements are still to be developed.

Does the academy guarantee professional football opportunities?

No. Our commitment is to purposeful development and honest guidance. The professional development phase is a future ambition, and no professional contract or external club placement is guaranteed.

Can girls and boys join?

EFA is being developed for girls and boys. Final group arrangements will reflect ages, experience, demand and available coaching support.

Do we have to attend both school and club sessions?

No. They are distinct programmes. School sessions can be a starting point, while the club programme offers further development through assessment. School attendance does not guarantee a club place.

What if my child feels anxious or needs additional support?

Please discuss your child’s needs before joining. We will consider how to help them settle and be honest about the support we can provide.

Can parents communicate in Spanish?

Yes. Questions in Spanish are welcome. We will use Spanish when needed for understanding, wellbeing and safety; contact arrangements will be confirmed before launch.
