Safeguarding

Children should be listened to, treated with respect and able to speak up when something worries them.

Planning stage · Registration closed. EFA’s safeguarding lead, dedicated reporting contacts and approved policies have not yet been confirmed. This page does not provide an active safeguarding reporting service.

Who is responsible now?

Neil Connor, Founder & CEO, is responsible for developing EFA and its programme arrangements. This does not mean that a safeguarding lead has been appointed. The named lead and an alternative contact will be published before enrolment opens.

If you are worried about a child

If a child is in immediate danger, contact the local emergency services. For a concern that needs attention now, contact the relevant local child-protection service or police. Do not wait for a reply from EFA.

Players: speak to a trusted adult if something makes you feel worried or unsafe. You do not have to manage it alone.

Questions about EFA’s arrangements

For general questions about our planned safeguarding arrangements, contact info@englishfootballacademy.com. This is the general enquiry address, not a dedicated or continuously monitored safeguarding service. Please do not send sensitive information about a child through the public enquiry form.

Before programmes open

Families will need clear information about who is looking after their child and how to raise a concern. Before enrolment opens, EFA will need to confirm:

  • A named safeguarding lead, direct reporting details and an alternative route if a concern involves that person.
  • Staff suitability checks, relevant safeguarding training, first-aid cover and supervision arrangements for the programme.
  • Venue responsibilities, emergency procedures, medical information handling, arrival and collection arrangements.
  • A concern-reporting process, complaints and escalation routes, and how records will be handled.

These are preparations to complete, not claims that checks, appointments or approvals are already in place.

Policies and family information

The following documents are planned. Approved versions and review dates will be published before enrolment opens:

  • Safeguarding and child-protection policy, including how to report a concern.
  • Codes of conduct for coaches, players and parents/carers.
  • Complaints procedure and escalation routes.
  • Photography, filming and consent arrangements.
  • Medical, emergency, arrival and collection information.

Read the current enquiry and portal privacy information. Programme policies will reflect the actual delivery arrangements once confirmed.
